About Debi Roberson

I love how many works are bursting with potential stories of unknown lives. The artist uses colour, shape and composition to guide the viewer’s attention and set the mood of a piece, but each observer decodes the story it tells in their own way, based on their unique experience. That’s the excitement of making a story in images rather than words. No two people will see exactly the same story. After dropping out of college in Florence in the early 70s, I lived and worked in Europe, the Pacific Basin, Asia and Africa for 20 years.

Wherever I went I took any jobs that were available but I always carried a sketchbooo. I came back to the UK in 1990 and I am now relatively settled between Yorkshire, Oxford and Wales, making a work in the company of family and friends. I'm a latecomer to mosaics, having been inspired by some wonderful makers. I have exhibited mosaics with BAMM North at Harlow Carr in 2022 and in York in 2022/2023. I have exhibited paintings and drawings in London, Hong Kong, Italy, Saltaire and Ilkley.
