Walking by the sea

The shell comes from a beach in Swansea where my sister-in-law lives. I love the deep blue of the smalti. One of the blue stone came from a walk near a reservoir close to Sheffield. It was pretty hard to cut!

Seeking a warm sea

I love the texture of the shells and how it connects to the rough edges of the marble stone. Playing with lines and interstices.

I wanted to use these little broken shells. I love their shapes and textures. Continuing to play with marble.

About Sandrine

I discovered mosaic making a few years ago. I had been dreaming for years about taking a class, but was always too busy with kids and work. I eventually gave myself permission to take a class and started attending the studio run by Coralie Turpin. She is an awesome teacher and got me quite addicted to mosaic making.

I have transformed my front room into a mosaic studio. I am very much at the beginning in my mosaic journey. I find the mosaic medium absolutely thrilling. As someone who can not draw, it has given me the freedom to develop a creative voice. I am particularly keen to start working with stones and smalti. I love playing around with bits of wood to mosaic on.
